Entire Property
Splitrock Farm and Retreat offers guests access to 101 acres of land, which includes beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean to the west and Mount Jacinto to the east. Guests have access to 6+ miles of walking and biking trails, including the Splitrock 5K (3.12 miles) that covers most of the property and all the key features and viewpoints
Shady Spring
A 1-acre area with parking, power, water, fire pit, wood burning grills, and tables! There is a natural spring on the site of a 1920s hand-dug well that is perfect for swimming. Around the spring are oaks and palms plus 100ft pines that provide shade and bird refuge. The pines catch the ocean breeze for a soothing rustle.
Echo Valley
Echo Valley is an ultra-private campsite nestled deep in a valley surrounded by steep hillsides, the only campsite on the lower 40 acres of the 101 acre property. You cannot see any homes, campsites, or trace of other people except an occasional hiker from our other sites. The campsite is adjacent to an ancient live oak grove with enough palms and boulders mixed throughout that it seems you are in Jurassic Park! The temp under that canopy stays 15-20 degrees cooler.
The Oak Grove
A 5-acre area all together with a dozen giant oak trees that create a 1-acre shade canopy. This location can fit up to 3,000 people and 200 cars on the adjacent prairie and about 500 on the property. It is the perfect site for family or friends to gather around the picnic tables, BBQ, or snooze and listen to the sounds of the rustling oaks. On a clear day, you can see the blue horizon of the Pacific Ocean, and its constant breeze further cools the air under the oak canopy.
Observation Deck
A 192sqft deck with a 360-degree view of Southern California. Observe ocean views on the horizon over North County San Diego, from La Jolla to Camp Pendleton and mountain views of the snow-capped peaks of San Gorgonio, San Jacinta, and Palomar. Amazing spot for star-gazing.
Granite Tabernacle
The Tabernacle is ultra-private campsite and, at 1,420 ft elevation, is the highest campsite with incredible views. Tabernacle is the only campsite on the eastern side of the 101 acre property. The Granite Tabernacle campsite includes a 14′ yurt with cots and bedding, a smokeless fire pit with grill inside the yurt, two fire pits, table, shady hut, potable water, and a porta-potty that is cleaned frequently.
Baby Oaks Geodome
Beautiful 24′ diameter, 15, tall, 450sqft Geodome. BabyOaks Geodome campsite is a private glamping site that offers privacy and spectacular views. Inside the dome is a king bed loft, one queen bed, and one pull-out futon (sleeps one comfortably or two children). There is also a large leather couch that can sleep 1-3 people. Enjoy fresh linens upon arrival for the two beds. The campsite has one fire pit, table and chairs, potable water (city water) with sink, portable toilet, trash can, and solar fairy lights for you to enjoy.
Hilltop Hideout
Hidden among giant boulders with views from Mt Palomar across North County to the Pacific Ocean’s endless horizon. Sleep in a cozy cavern with a canvas cover that stays cool and dry all day and night. Peek out at the surrounding trails of Splitrock Farm, spy on Camp Pendleton’s air field, and stare at the stars next to a fire.
